The movie wasn’t exactly European, and the directeur Henri-Pierre Duval wasn’t French. The little-known backstory is that this was a loop-carrier marketing gimmick cooked up by the late great American cult director, Ray Dennis Steckler. The narrateur with the funny accent was also in on the gag; since she was the actress Carolyn Brandt, his wife. The scam was repeated for two sequels, French Fantasies and French Heat.
