Hunky writer Mike (Jason Yukon, who sports massive sideburns and an equally huge white guy Afro) becomes obsessed with comely new neighbor Clare (a charming portrayal by the attractive Linda York). Although Mike discovers that Clare is involved in a lesbian relationship with the beautiful Inez (a fine and credible performance by ravishing long-haired brunette Barbara Mills), he nonetheless is still determined to win Clare over.
Writer/director Mark Haggard maintains a steady pace throughout, grounds the story in a plausible everyday reality, and manages to write dialogue that sounds authentic. A lengthy Sapphic session between Clare and Inez proves to be scorching hot stuff while the lovemaking between Mike and Clare is both tender and erotic. York and Yukon do acceptable work in their roles. Moreover, this film makes for a nice showcase for underrated 70’s skin flick regular Mills, who not only radiates a cool sensuality and has a captivating screen presence, but also was a real capable actress as well. Douglas Knapp’s fairly polished cinematography offers a few pretty visuals. Guy Guilbert’s gentle melodic score does the harmonic trick. This movie earns extra points for its surprising downbeat conclusion. Unfortunately, this picture gives off a genuinely creepy vibe due to its questionable sexual politics, with the rather distasteful premise of masculine potency possessing the magical ability to possibly turn a gay woman straight. That aside, this one overall sizes up as a solid 70’s adults only outing.
