Mick is determined to become a success in the business world and gets his first break from Imperial Coffee manager Mr. Duff (Arthur Lowe), who offers him a position as a salesman. This small taste of success leads Mick on a journey in which he experiences a number of strange and sometimes surreal encounters. Throughout the film, the majority of the actors play multiple roles, while Alan Price provides the songs on the soundtrack.
This sprawling, surrealist musical serves as an allegory for the pitfalls of capitalism, as it follows the adventures of a young coffee salesman in Europe.
