When their ship crash-lands on a remote planet, the marooned passengers soon learn that escaped convict Riddick isn’t the only thing they have to fear. Deadly creatures lurk in the shadows, waiting to attack in the dark, and the planet is rapidly plunging into the utter blackness of a total eclipse. With the body count rising, the doomed survivors are forced to turn to Riddick with his eerie eyes to guide them through the darkness to safety. With time running out, there’s only one rule: Stay in the light.
Very effective thriller. Could this be Vin’s finest hour (other than that 2006 courtroom drama he outdid himself in, acting-wise, for esteemed director Sidney Lumet) ? Possibly so. Before he started to become a rote caricature persona. [Full Disclosure Admission: I’ve never seen any of the endless but obviously very popular F&F series, or had much interest in sampling it.]
Dear NLZ, I’ve never managed to find any of the things that Vin directed, mostly shorts from his early career, some made under his real name. If you could locate some of these rarities and offer them here, that would really stand out among all the film blogs, and I’ve no doubt there would be considerable interest.
