A naniwa-bushi singer tries to bring his art to the U.S. in the 1920s but finds himself running afoul Chicago gangsters, among other things. One of Suzuki’s most overlooked late-period films (all of which are overlooked at least a little), Capone Cries a Lot seems to have gotten lost in between the films of the Taisho trilogy, even though it is very much of a piece with them stylistically and from around the same era (okay, maybe a decade or so later).
