Semi-autobiographical story of Conrad Rooks, who travels to France to undergo a drug-withdrawal cure. Flashbacks to the beginings of psychedelia in San Fran. Conrad Rooks’ hallucinogenic gem also boasts one of the most hypnotic film scores of all time by Ravi Shankar. This film probably captures the essence of the sixties counter-culture like few films ever have.
Thanks for this. I did not know or recall much about Conrad Rooks, so I looked this up, but he is known for just a couple films, this being one of them. The other, Siddhartha (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070689/?ref_=nm_flmg_prd_1) has been not very available. Siddhartha was also certainly an “arthouse” film, which is to say not of mainstream appeal, but certain aspects of it have really stayed with me all these many years later, which is a pretty rare occurrence across thousands of films. If you do find this title, highest res and best print quality is strongly advised, as a VHS rip would not serve it well.
