Known to her clients as Dagmar, she’s a classy Swedish call girl in Copenhagen. After two years, she’s ready quit, and we follow her on what she hopes is her last day in the trade. She wakes at 9 AM, gets her first call and a marriage proposal, checks in with her doctor, pays final visits to various clients, arranges to lease her flat, passes on her black book to a colleague, tries to beg off on an impromptu session with Japanese businessmen, has a quick conversation with her brother, and makes a couple of charitable contributions. All the while, her eyes on the clock, there’s the threat of her pimp finding out about her plans. If she pulls it off, what awaits?

“Dagmar’s Hot Pants, Inc.” is a thoroughly enjoyable sex comedy-drama that often played in theaters and drive-ins on a double bill with “Swedish Fly Girls”. “Dagmar” is less topical than her “Fly Girl” counterpart, and thus the contrast between the two films will always make it a terrific double feature. The film tells the story of Dagmar, a very happy hooker on her last day of business, as she is closing up shop and leaving town. Before she goes, she will introduce a teen-age boy to sex, courtesy of his paying father, in a scene that is both funny and touching; service her oddball regular customers one last time; and touch base with all of her call girl girlfriends, one of whom is played by the pretty “Daddy Darling” star, actress Hellie Louise, who rides in and out of the film on a bicycle and has one brief scene (Louise also had a similar cameo, but with almost no lines, in “Swedish Fly Girls”). Finally, after saying goodbye to everyone, Dagmar is off to her new life. . .

Exploitation films either succeed or fail depending on how carefully they are made, and “Dagmar” is a prime example of good work by the cast and crew making the most of a slim budget. The film’s script could have easily rehashed the “hooker with a heart of gold” cliché but there is more depth to “Dagmar’s Hot Pants.” At the same time, it is not so deep that its target audience will get bored. A perfect balance of fun, skin, and drama make “Dagmar’s Hot Pants” well worth trying on.
