Lothar Schramm is a simple man with complex problems, yet he seems like such a nice guy. He works as a taxi driver and lives by himself where he is happy to answer his door to strangers and kill them outright. As with many shy loner types he has a problem dealing with woman so he drugs them and photographs their nude bodies for sexual stimulation. He then murders his helpless victims and so goes the life of a deranged serial killer.
A breathtakingly uncomfortable film experience, Schramm is one of several films made from the mid 80’s to early 90’s about serial killers. More similar to the disturbing masterpiece HENRY: A PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER than it is to the horror-thriller SE7EN, SCHRAMM takes a hard, uncensored look into the life of Lothar Schramm, a fictional German serial killer, whose particular fetish gets him dubbed the “Lipstick Killer.” As usual with films by Jorg Buttgereit (Nekromantik, Der Todesking), the subject is taken seriously and delivers the most impact possible.
Not recommended for the squemish, but definitely recommended for those looking for the extreme.
