The story concerns a series of syndicate killings (most of which are committed by Klaus Kinski, who is truly memorable as the silent villain) and the police’s lack of leads in the case. One cop, who used to interrogate criminals with means of violence and got results, is now bound by new laws that insist he and other cops cannot hit prisoners. As the body count rises and the police become increasingly frustrated, the commissioner allows our hero, the violent cop, to return to utilizing his thug-like interrogation methods… and lo and behold, it works beautifully, leading the cops closer to busting the syndicate.
This pro-police brutality thriller has some unforgettable violence (e.g. castration via a blowtorch, some nasty shootings, etc.) and it’s very well crafted with solid performances and a neat plot. Check it out; you won’t be disappointed.
