A young actress, Shu Ya, has familial troubles. Her little brother is retarded, deformed, and–thanks dad–syphilitic. Dad has been out of the picture for several months, gone who knows where. Mother just sits and stews, bitter about her missing husband and complaining of the stink in her home.
Shu Ya is eyed by Mo, the director of a commercial on which she’s working. Mo is a collector of odd artifacts, including a gruesome demon statue he’s just stolen. Mo takes her back to his apartment where they both get drunk. In the night, Shu Ya is impregnated by a demon, which she later attributes to Mo. Mo is a player and tries to forget about her, but revenge comes from Shu Ya, even after death, through a curse.
Were you ever able to get a new upload of this? The one I downloaded a few months ago had a fraction of a second of pausing throughout.
Hi, I just checked the file and didn’t notice any stuttering or lagging issue. It plays fine with VLC or Media Player Classic. Maybe an issue with your player?
All other movies are playing fine on my VLC player. I don’t know the difference between Cantonese or Mandarin, but the lag is worse on one audio track than the other. It starts from the beginning of the video when the Europa Films logo is on screen, then you can see the video kind of lag for a fraction of a second each time during the movie whenever the audio drops. The most noticeable is when the woman is talking to the boy during the opening credits and when he’s walking back to his seat. Then it continues every few minutes throughout the entire movie.
I brought the file into a video editor and sure enough, the audio file shows the drop-outs. I wish I could show you a screenshot of it.
Since your copy comes from the Japanese VHS, I’m curious how there are 2 audio tracks. VHS was not known for that. Or was this a laserdisc?
Ah ok I see. I’m afraid the issue comes from the source. I found the full uncompressed vhs and same problem… so, unless a new copy appears online, this one is the best we can get.
