In Istanbul, the lawyer of Simpson & Simpson Linda Westinghouse has erotic dreams with a strange woman every night and her analyst Dr. Alwin Seward suggests her to find another lover. Linda is assigned to resolve an inheritance issue with the Hungarian Countess Nadine Oskudar that has inherited a real estate from Count Dracula. Linda leaves her boyfriend Omar in the Istanbul Hilton and travels to the Kadidados Island. While waiting for transportation in the continent, Linda is advised by a local that the island would be a place of death and insanity and she should not travel to there. However, she does not pay attention to the man and meets Countess Oskudar that is a lesbian vampire fascinated by Linda. The Countess drinks the blood of Linda and she has amnesia and is sent to a mental institution where Dr, Steiner, who is also a vampire expert, treats her and puts an advertisement in the newspapers…
It’s not only another sleazy sexploitation horror of the 70’s. It’s much more, with its eerie soundtrack and stunning visuals, edited in the manner that would become a trademark in the 80’s and later for such visual masters as Kubrick and Scott, or maybe Lynch rather. The plot may be a bit cheesy, but I think it’s not the plot that matters – the main language fraco speaks here is the visual pop-art-esque language (today might be rather regarded as ‘post-modern’). And the hypnotic performance by Soledad Miranda is worth remembering forever as well. It’s a franco masterpiece, way ahead of its time. A must see!
Merci.
This movie is beautiful, with lovingly long shots of its two protagonists, and tons of hot lazy erotic atmosphere. The slow pacing is intentional to build up erotic tension, and lend a realness to the hypnotic seduction dreamlike state, punctuated with some little jump scares and psychodrama.
The soundtrack alone is worth the whole thing — some kind of unique sexy acid jazz and trip lounge not heard anywhere else. I imagine the sound track is more famous that the movie by now.
I echo those sentiments concerning the soundtrack of ‘Vampyros Lesbos’, particularly a selection entitled ‘The Lions and the Cucumber’. Your description was accurate as well. I’d even go a step further and say I’ve never heard anything quite like it in any genre of music. The array of contradictions instrumentally should make it unlistenable but it’s just the opposite. There’s elements of jazz and rock but the addition of the altered voice makes this stuff a strange brew and tremendously ahead of its time. I find myself playing the soundtrack more than watching the film.

Thanks for the fine entertainmen!
