After courting a woman called Vera for seven years, friends Jack and Leo decide to seclude themselves in the Vermont woods near her home, when she finally decides to accept a third man called Gideon.

Adolfas  Mekas was the brother of Jonas Mekas, a film critic, filmmaker, and essentially father figure of the avant-garde New American Cinema of the 1960s, which in turn spawned the underground film movement that continued into the 1970s. “Hallelujah the Hills,” a surreal comedy satirizing politics, American pop culture, religion, and sexual mores, was the first feature film in that movement.
